GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) – After being postponed in January due to mild weather, WinterWest 2016 has been canceled due to a continued lack of snow.

The event, which is held annually at Richmond Park on Grand Rapids’ west side, was originally scheduled for the weekend of Jan. 29 to 31 and was later rescheduled for Feb. 12 to 14. But in a release sent out Wednesday, Friends of Grand Rapids Parks said they were focused on planning for next year.

“We are committed to bringing WinterWest back to Richmond Park in 2017 and have already started planning the festival, ensuring that this year’s great ideas are not lost,” WinterWest Coordinator Rachel Skylis said in the release.
