GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — NBC “Late Night” host Seth Meyers took the stage at LaughFest in Grand Rapids on Saturday night.
Before his set, he told 24 Hour News 8 that national news, especially politics, creates a wealth of content for jokes.
“We certainly provide a chance to laugh at everything that’s going on, which sometimes is the best tonic. But we try not to take ourselves too seriously and think of it as anything other than writing jokes about what’s happening in the news,” Meyers said. “We do tip our caps to the news right now — it does provide a lot every day. It makes it fun to come in to work every morning.”
This was Meyers’ first visit to Grand Rapids.
Sunday, LaughFest is holding a celebrity lip sync. You’ll be able to catch 24 Hour News 8’s Emily Linnert, Casey Jones, Ellen Bacca, Tom Hillen and Heather Walker perform. The free event is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the B.O.B.
LaughFest continues through next weekend. The comedy festival benefits Gilda’s Club of Grand Rapids.
