POKAGON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities say two people were injured after a crash in Cass County.
It happened around 2:10 p.m. on Friday, March 11 at the intersection of M-51 and Peavine Street in Pokagon Township. Authorities with the Cass County Sheriff’s office say 16-year-old Alexis Chorba of Dowagiac did not see a motorcycle that was driving southbound on M-51 and pulled out into the intersection. The driver of the motorcycle, 34-year-old Troy Duis of Niles, did not have enough time to avoid colliding with Chorba’s vehicle.
Duis, who was not wearing a helmet, was taken to the hospital where he is listed in critical, but stable condition. Chorba was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Authorities say she was wearing her seatbelt
Authorities are not sure whether alcohol was a factor in the crash. The crash is under investigation.
