1 pinned in after 4-vehicle crash involving semi

HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — One person hospitalized after a four-vehicle crash on Chicago Drive near Holland on Wednesday.

According to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened at 7:45 a.m. at the intersection of 112th Avenue and Chicago Drive in Holland Township. Traffic on Chicago Drive had a yellow flashing light, but driver Kari Francomb, who was headed north on 112th Avenue, assumed the intersection was a four-way stop.

After stopping, Francomb pulled her Buick Regal into the intersection and collided with an eastbound semi-truck that had the right of way.

The force of the crash sent both vehicles into a westbound van and sedan.

Francomb, 35, was extracted from her vehicle. She was hospitalized with non-life-threating injuries, according to the sheriff’s office, and was in stable condition Wednesday afternoon.

The other three drivers were not injured.
