Barry Manilow to hold instrument drive for GRPS

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Barry Manilow is donating a new Yamaha piano for a music instrument drive for Grand Rapids Public Schools.

Manilow, a singer and songwriter, is holding a performance at the Van Andel Arena on Friday, March 25. He is is also asking attendees to donate new or gently used musical instruments to the school, according to John Helmholdt, the Director of Communications for GRPS.

This is the second time that Manilow has held an instrument drive for Grand Rapids Public Schools. The drive is a part of the Manilow Music Project which is focused on providing musical instruments to middle schools and high schools. It also offers music scholarships to universities.

The instrument drive will be held at the Van Andel Arena box office from March 18 to March 25.
