Man arrested after pursuit in BC

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities say a man was arrested after he led them on a short chase early Saturday morning in Battle Creek.

It happened around 3:00 a.m. Battle Creek Police say they saw the suspect driving at an “extremely high rate of speed” in the area of Emmett Street and Capital Avenue Northeast. The vehicle ran a red light and nearly struck a vehicle in the intersection.

Officers tried to stop the vehicle, however, the driver led them on a pursuit through neighborhood streets, stopping near Wagner Drive and Emmett Street.

The suspect, a 27-year-old male, was arrested for Fleeing and Eluding and operating while intoxicated. He is currently in the Calhoun County Jail.
