GEORGETOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities say a teen suffered serious injuries in an early-morning crash in Georgetown Township.
It happened around 1:35 a.m. on Saturday at the intersection of Baldwin Street and 20th Avenue. Ottawa County Sheriff’s deputies say 17-year-old Joshua Geerts was driving northbound on 20th Avenue and didn’t stop at a red light. He collided with a vehicle driven by 23-year-old Cody Braat who was driving eastbound on Baldwin Avenue.
Authorities say Geerts, who was not wearing a seat belt, had to be extricated from his vehicle. He was taken to the hospital where he is in serious condition.
Deputies say Braat was wearing his seat belt and was not injured.
