CHICAGO (WOOD) — Company officials have announced plans to open a HopCat in Chicago this summer.
BarFly Ventures, the parent company of HopCat, says the restaurant and bar would be located in the historic Lincoln Park neighborhood pending approval of a rezoning request and permitting.
If approved, HopCat in Chicago would open late this summer, featuring 130 varieties of craft beer and cider on tap, more than 200 craft beers and ciders in cans/bottles, a full menu and a room for private events and parties.
The Chicago HopCat would be the 10th location for the business which first opened in downtown Grand Rapids in 2008. HopCat also recently opened up a location in Lincoln, Nebraska, on March 19.
“I lived and worked in the city of Chicago for 10 years and consider it a second home, with one of the world’s greatest restaurant and bar scenes,” said Mark Sellers, founder of HopCat and BarFly Ventures. “We looked at many locations in Chicago over several years and decided on this spot in Lincoln Park because of its walkability, history, and sense of community.”
In September, HopCat announced they had reached a $25 million deal with a Texas lender and would be opening 30 new bars across the Midwest over the next five years.
