MUSKEGON, Mich. (WOOD) — Police have arrested one man and are looking for a second in connection to a fatal shooting that happened Saturday night outside a liquor store in Muskegon.

Corey Nathaniel Burt Jr., 22, was arrested Sunday afternoon around 2:30 p.m. on multiple outstanding warrants, according to a release from the Muskegon Police Department. On Tuesday, April 6, Burt was arraigned in Muskegon District Court on an open murder charge.

Police are also looking for a second person in connection to the murder — 20-year-old Jaylan DeShawn Traviss. Investigators called him a person of interest, although his exact connection to the case was not released.

A reward is being offered through Silent Observer for information on the Muskegon Heights man’s whereabouts, the release said.

Cuti was shot and killed just before 11 p.m. Saturday outside of the Sam’s Drink All party store on S. Getty Street. He was with his uncle and his cousin when the shooting happened.

While police have not yet commented on a motive in the case, family members told 24 Hour News 8 they suspect drugs were involved.
