Power restored to 3K in NW Grand Rapids

Nearly 3,000 customers in Grand Rapids lost power after a car hit a guy wire. (April 4, 2016)

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Nearly 3,000 homes and businesses in Grand Rapids lost power Monday morning after a car hit a power pole guy wire.

According to Consumers Energy, a car went off the road at Leonard Street NW and hit a guy wire around 8:30 a.m.

The outage affected customers on the northwest side of Grand Rapids between Lake Michigan Drive and 3 Mile Road.

Power was restored just before noon on Monday.
