GREENVILLE, Mich. (WOOD) — A woman who hit and killed a 4-year-old boy last year pleaded guilty to a felony charge as part of a plea deal.
Susan Rieckman, 70, pleaded guilty to a charge of operating with a suspended license causing death during a hearing Thursday in Montcalm County Circuit Court.
As part of the plea deal, the prosecutor will recommend a sentence of one year in jail and five years probation.
Rieckman was driving a pickup truck when she hit and killed 4-year-old Talos Bills in downtown Greenville in September 2015. Police said Rieckman was on M-57 turning left onto M-91 when she hit the boy in a crosswalk.
The Cedar Springs woman told relatives she didn’t see the boy.
State records show her license was suspended in July 2014 for medical reasons.
Rieckman will be sentenced at a later date which has not yet been scheduled.
