Eggerding, a Sparta High School student, was among five teens involved in the single-vehicle crash in the area of 9 Mile Road and Vinton Avenue between Grand Rapids and Sparta around 3:45 a.m. Sunday. She died Monday.

The four other teens — all of them 16 or 17 years old — were seriously hurt and remained hospitalized Monday.

A GoFundMe account has been set up to help Eggerding’s family cover funeral costs. After one day, it had raised over $12,000.
