Snyder makes staff changes in his executive office

LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Gov. Rick Snyder is filling some jobs in his executive office by promoting from within and in one case transferring an agency director to the office.

Mike Zimmer, director of the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, will become the governor’s cabinet director, responsible for coordinating efforts with department directors and staff. The new LARA director will be Shelly Edgerton, the department’s chief deputy director.

Elizabeth Clement, Snyder’s deputy chief of staff and cabinet secretary, will become his chief legal counsel. She replaces Jim Redford, who recently became interim director of the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency.

Beth Emmitt, Snyder’s scheduling director, will take over as deputy chief of staff.

Deputy press secretary Anna Heaton will become press secretary, and communications manager Josh Paciorek will become deputy press secretary.
