1 to face charges in fatal Albion shooting

Calhoun County Sheriff's Deputies, MSP and Albion Public Safety investigate a homicide on April 21, 2016.

ALBION, Mich. (WOOD) — Police say one person has been jailed and will face charges in connection to a fatal shooting in Albion on Wednesday night.

The shooting happened just before 10 p.m. Wednesday night in the 100 block of E. Pine Street near N. Superior Street. Albion Department of Public Safety officers arrived there to find 58-year-old Earnest Lee Embry, who had been shot multiple times. Investigators began performing CPR on Embry, but he died at the scene.

Police said a disagreement over money seems to have led to the shooting.

Two men wanted for questioning — Tommy Lee Evans and James Carl Nelson — turned themselves in Thursday.

Later the same day, they said one person had been taken to the Calhoun County Jail in the case, though they didn’t clarify who that person was or exactly what charges they were expected to face.

The investigation into the shooting continues. Anyone with information is asked to call Silent Observer at 517.629.2700 or Det. Wygant at 517.629.7824.
