Kalamazoo police looking for suspect in Wednesday shooting

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — Police in Kalamazoo are looking for the shooter after a man was shot during a fight Wednesday.

It happened around 3:50 p.m. in the 100 block of E. Prouty Street, near N. Burdick Street, according to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety.

Officers responding to a report of the shooting found a large crowd in the road, but no victim. That victim later showed up at Borgess Medical Center with non-life-threatening wounds.

The man was shot during a physical altercation, according to KDPS, though police did not immediately provide more details about the incident.

Witnesses told officers that the suspect took off in an unknown direction. Police say they are still looking to find the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to call KDPS at 269.337.8994 or Silent Observer at 269.343.2100.
