WOOD TV8 earns seven awards from MAB

LANSING, Mich. (WOOD) — WOOD TV8 has been honored with seven awards from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters.

MAB handed out its awards for 2015 at the Lansing Center on Tuesday.

WOOD TV8 received the best in category award for:

  • Breaking News: Coverage of the tornado that touched down in Portland on June 22, 2015. (24 Hour News 8 staff)
  • Community Involvement
  • Marketing Materials & Promos: Police crashes (Matt Ferguson)
  • Mini-Documentary or Series: Bringing home Bossier Doe (Target 8 investigator Ken Kolker and photojournalist Ron Swanson)

WOOD TV8 also received three merit awards for:

  • Investigative Story: Danger on duty (Target 8 investigators Ken Kolker and Troy Baker and photojournalist Larry Gron)
  • News Special: Winter weather coverage of Jan. 8, 2015. (24 Hour News 8 staff)
  • Newscast: 24 Hour News 8’s 6 p.m. newscast of June 26, 2015. (24 Hour News 8 staff)

Last month, 24 Hour News 8 was also honored with the Edward R. Murrow Award for our coverage of the Portland tornado.
