GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) When your child needs specialized medical care, you need a team that can help you coordinate that care and a space where you can recharge your connection with care providers. That team is at the new Peter and Joan Secchia CarePartners Program at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital.
Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital celebrated the grand opening of the Peter and Joan Secchia CarePartner’s patient space in April. The program cares for medically complex children seeing more than three or more pediatric specialists by coordinating appointments in a condensed time frame.
The lounge was specifically designed to offer a place to rest between appointments or testing to patients and families in the CarePartners program who see three or more specialists. It is also home to the CarePartners coordinators to allow for face-to-face communication with families as they facilitate care coordination.
Other features of the new patient and family lounge include:
- Conference room for care conferences
- Private spaces to allow for napping or quiet time
- Lockers to secure belongings while at appointments
The new CarePartners patient and family lounge is available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Call (616) 391-2000 or visit its website to learn more.
