Power restored to thousands of Consumers customers in Kentwood

KENTWOOD, Mich. (WOOD) — According to the Consumers Energy Outage Map, power is restored to over 3,000 Consumers Energy customers in Kent County who woke up in the dark on Sunday morning.

The outage affected customers in the area of 52nd Street SE and Kalamazoo Avenue SE. As of 10 a.m. Sunday, 3,202 customers were without power. Power has since been restored.

Representatives from Consumers Energy say the cause was a tree that was affected by storms that passed through the area. They said only one phase of wires was impacted, however, in order to safely repair the line, all three phases had to be shut off before repairs could be made.

According to the outage map, the estimated restoration time is 11:15 a.m. Sunday.
