GRAND RAPIDS, Mich (WOOD) Four business districts known as Uptown are joining forces to host another “Uptown: Eat.Shop.Rock.” event on Thursday, June 16 from 6 to 9 p.m. They’re featuring food, shopping and live music throughout the event. This week the emphasis is on Wealthy Street. Amy Ruis is the owner of Art of the Table, located on Wealthy. Ruis says it’s all about bringing together neighborhood shopping, eating, drinking and being merry.
Part of the music for Uptown: Eat. Shop. Rock is one of the neighborhood musical venues, The Triumph Music Academy. They have several of their musicians and alumni playing at the event. Some of those names include Rick Chyme, and a student-band called Chasing Friday. Kevin “Koko” Jones is joining some of the musicians on stage. Jones has played percussion with some of the best pop, jazz and R&B artists including Whitney Houston and the Isley Brothers.
