EMMETT TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A bridge replacement south of Battle Creek will be diverting Raymond Road traffic until mid-November.

Raymond will be shut down between E. River Road and Cliff Street in Emmett Township so the bridge over the North Branch Kalamazoo River can be replaced, according to a Wednesday release from the Calhoun County Road Department. Traffic is being diverted along Beadle Lake Road via G Drive N/Golden Avenue to the south, and via Cliff Street and M-96/Columbia Avenue to the north.

The road should reopen by Nov. 15, the road department said, though there will be additional construction in the area through May 2017.

In all, the project will cost $2.816 million, about $2.675 million of which is a blend of state and federal funding from the Local Bridge Program. The road department is paying the remaining 5 percent of costs, which comes out to nearly $141,000.
