BUSHNELL TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — One child was killed and two were injured after an off-road vehicle rolled over in Montcalm County.
It happened around 12:40 p.m. in the 4000 block of East Boyer Road in Bushnell Township, northeast of Belding, on Friday.
Authorities say a 12-year-old boy was driving an off-road vehicle with two seven-year-old passengers when the vehicle hit a bump in the yard and rolled over.
The initial investigation reveals that the 12-year-old was thrown from the vehicle, one of the passengers had jumped before the vehicle overturned and the second passenger rolled over with the vehicle, according to a news release from the Montcalm County Sherriff’s Department.
The 12-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the scene. The seven-year-old passengers received minor injuries.
Deputies say no helmets or seat belts were worn during the crash. Alcohol was not a factor.
