CASCADE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) – A Kent County township has decided to scrap plans on a new township hall after receiving negative feedback from residents.
Cascade Township was planning to build the $7.5 million hall near the Kent District Library’s Cascade Township Branch. After plans were announced in the spring, the township held a number of meetings and requested feedback from residents, but did not receive enough support to move forward.
Instead, recommendations on upgrades and repairs on the existing township hall have been given to the township board. Those upgrades include a new roof, parking lot resurfacing and HVAC replacement.
The public can comment on the recommendations at the next Cascade Township board meeting on July 13. The meeting will be held at the Cascade Library’s Wisner Center.
