Authorities: 1 airlifted to hospital after Rutland Twp. crash

RUTLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Barry County Sheriff’s deputies say one person was airlifted to the hospital after he was thrown from his motorcycle in a crash.

It happened at 11:05 p.m. Friday on Whitmore Road near Upton Road in Rutland Township. Deputies say the driver was northbound on Whitmore Road when he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed in the roadway. He was thrown from his motorcycle in the crash.

The driver, a 47-year-old man from Middleville, was airlifted to the hospital. His condition is not known, and his name has not been released.

Authorities are not sure whether drugs, alcohol or speed were factors, but say the driver was not wearing a helmet.
