$5K reward offered in 2002 deadly hit and run

BERLIN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A $5,000 reward is being offered leading to the arrest of the driver who hit and killed a Coleman man in Ionia County 14 years ago.

Gordon Cozat,70, stopped on Jordan Lake Road south of W. David Highway in Berlin Township and was standing beside another driver’s window asking for directions when he was hit around 10:15 p.m. on June 16, 2002.

The Ionia County Sheriff’s Office said the suspect was heading northbound in a light-colored 1994-2000 GMC truck, Yukon or Chevrolet Suburban that likely has damage to the right front of the vehicle. It was last seen traveling west on W. David Highway toward the village of Saranac at a high rate of speed.
