DEARBORN, Mich. (AP/WOOD) — AAA Michigan says gas prices statewide have decreased by about 9 cents per gallon in the past week.
The Dearborn-based auto club says the average price for self-serve regular unleaded gasoline was about $2.26 per gallon on Sunday. That’s about 60 cents less than it was at the same point last year.
This is the fourth week in a row that the statewide price of gas has decreased.
According to GasBuddy.com, Grand Rapids has an average of just $2.11, Kalamazoo has an average of $2.10 and in Ottawa County the average price is $2.09.
The lowest price in the Grand Rapids area as of early Monday morning was $1.97 at the Sam’s Club in Kentwood, according to GasBuddy.com.
Averages are down significantly compared to the past few summers. GasBuddy.com shows the average price at the pump this time last year in West Michigan was $2.91 and in 2014 it was $3.78 a gallon.
