GALIEN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A woman was seriously injured after police say her motorcycle struck three vehicles in Berrien County.

Deputies with the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department responded to the multi-vehicle crash on US-12 near Hampton Road in Galien Township around 5 p.m. Sunday.

Police say Gloria Helenbolt, 50, of Elhart, Indiana, was riding a motorcycle westbound on US-12 when she crossed the center line and sideswiped a station wagon and a SUV before colliding head-on with another SUV.

Helenbolt was thrown from the motorcycle and suffered serious injuries. She was taken to a hospital in South Bend.

The sheriff’s department said she was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
