GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) Some favorite summer reads help you escape, solve a mystery, or take an adventure. Other titles are meant to help enlighten and inspire. One of the books suggested by the GR Reads program is that kind of book.
“10% Happier” by Dan Harris is about the author’s search for ways to reduce his stress after he had a public breakdown.
Each GR Reads book recommendation comes with events that tie into the book. One of the events for “10% Happier” is Tai Chi in the Park. Tai Chi is an ancient, continuous, slow form of exercise. It is a moving meditation which builds strength, vitality and balance and has many other benefits. Students of all ages will learn warm-up and eternal-youth exercises, push-hands, and forms. This class will be taught by instructors from Master Yen Hoa Lee’s School of Tai Chi Praying Mantis Kung Fu and Tai Chi Jeung, a traditional martial arts school.
