GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) The Grand Rapids Film Festival attracts many viewers and families to the area each summer with its Movies in the Park series.

On Friday, July 15, Grand Rapids native Philip Carrel gets his chance to shine as his first full-length feature, “Dyrafjordur,” plays on the big screen at the Grand Rapids Film Festival Summer Event. Carrel and his wife were so taken back by the beauty of Iceland on their first trip years ago they decided to go back and capture the landscapes to show others. The event on July 15 starts at 6 p.m. at Wilcox Park in Eastown.
