Ex-worker enters plea in pipe attack over pizza

Fannie's Corner in southeast Grand Rapids.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A former store employee accused of hitting a customer with a pipe over a piece of pizza has entered a plea.

Mittermann Singh, 40, pleaded no contest on Wednesday to one misdemeanor count of use of obscene language to breach the peace. He was sentenced to two days in the Kent County jail, which amounted to time already served, according to court records.

The incident happened in October 2015 at Fannies Corner on Eastern Avenue SE, north of Franklin Avenue.

The victim’s daughter told 24 Hour News 8 the worker repeatedly hit her mother with a lead pipe after she said she was unhappy with a piece of pizza she purchased at the store.

She said her mother suffered a concussion during the attack and needed staples in her head.
