HOLLAND, Mich. (WOOD) The fourth Maranda Park Party drew more than 7,300 kids and families to Kollen Park in Holland today. The summer sunshine and lakeshore breeze set the scene for a beautiful day in the park for free games, prizes, and entertainment.
Kids were able to run through a giant inflatable obstacle course, pet farm animals from the Critter Barn, learn about fire safety from the E.S.C.A.P.E. smoke demonstration trailer, and take a ride down the Fifth Third Bank Super Slide. The Holland Maranda Park Party also featured dozens of local organizations and vendors representing the best that the lakeshore has to offer including Ottawa Area Intermediate School District and Holland Community Aquatic Center.
“It was a beautiful day on the lakeshore, perfect for our fourth West Michigan Park Party! More than 7,300 kids and families joined us for an afternoon of free fun! The community support was incredible from the Parks and Rec team to the Public Service Department – everyone was on board,” Maranda said.
Kids were thrilled to enjoy a free lunch courtesy of the Michigan Department of Education and area public schools along with sweet treats like Country Fresh Ice Cream and giant slices of fresh watermelon from the Boys and Girls Club.
The Craig’s Cruiser Performance Stage rocked all afternoon. Performance included magic from Ronald McDonald, breakdancing sensation and the local Little Big Shots contest winner Lewis, along with fun prizes with Maranda and the 24 Hour News 8 Daybreak team.
