MONTAGUE, Mich. (AP) — Officials are celebrating the completion of the William Field Memorial Hart-Montague Trail improvement project in western Michigan.
Two ribbon-cutting ceremonies are planned Monday in Montague and Hart. Bike rides then take place to a DNR celebration in New Era.
The William Field Memorial Hart-Montague Trail State Park was developed in 1989. The 22-mile trail winds through rural and wooded terrain and features scenic overlooks and picnic areas. It connects the communities of Hart, Mears, Shelby, New Era, Rothbury and Montague.
The DNR and the Michigan Department of Transportation rebuilt the trail from Hart to Montague. Enhancements included safety improvements, repairs to bridges, work on overlook decks and signs. Construction on the project began in spring 2015.
