MARTIN, Mich. (WOOD) — A former high school basketball coach accused of sending explicit pictures to a player on his team is going to jail.

A judge Monday sentenced Raymond Fay Brenner II to 90 days in jail with credit for two days served. Brenner pleaded no contest to a felony charge of attempting to accost a minor for immoral purposes.

Brenner was the coach of Martin Public School’s junior varsity boys’ basketball program when he allegedly sent pictures of his genitals to a player through social media, according to court documents.

Detectives were alerted to the situation on Jan. 31, when they were called to a home in Martin Township. A detective interviewed the 24-year-old coach and arrested him.

The district said Brenner passed a background check before being hired. He was placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. The position he held is now listed as “vacant” on the school’s website.
