HEATH TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — An Allegan County man may soon be reunited with valuables stolen from his home.
The man discovered his Heath Township home had been broken into in May and called 911. The thieves got away with firearms and a small safe, according to a post on the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook page.
This month, detectives and road patrol deputies arrested two people of interest in the case. The pair told investigators some of the property had been thrown into the Rabbit River near Hamilton.
The Allegan County Sheriff’s Office dive team combed the swift waters of Rabbit River and found some of the stolen valuables.
Authorities are hopeful the recovered items will help lead them to the remaining stolen items.
