Local mayors and law enforcement kick off National Night Out

WYOMING, Mich. (WOOD) – Today is the 33rd annual National Night Out, a day where the community and local law enforcement come together to build relationships and awareness in order to make our neighborhoods safer and better places to live.

Tonight across West Michigan, organizations are hosting community block parties providing neighbors the easy opportunity to gather and get to know each other.

The events kicked off this morning as Consumer’s Energy hosted local media, government officials and leaders from local law enforcement agencies in a kick-off event.

Leaders from Grand Rapids, Grandville, Kentwood, Rockford, Walker, Wyoming and Kent County were in attendances as mayors read a proclamation, officially announcing today August 2nd 2016 as National Night Out Day.
