Wyoming driver escapes robber’s barrage of bullets

WYOMING, Mich. (WOOD) — Police are investigating after a man was shot at several times by suspects breaking into a vehicle in Wyoming Wednesday morning.

It happened around 5 a.m. in the 1900 block of Wyoming Avenue SW, according to a Wyoming Department of Public Safety news release.

Authorities say the man was driving on Wyoming Avenue when he noticed three suspects breaking into a vehicle. One of the suspects then became confrontational.

The victim started to drive away when he heard gunshots and bullets striking his vehicle, the release said. He then drove to a nearby business where he called police.

When officers arrived on scene, they checked the area and found multiple vehicle that were broken into.

Officers then came across several people in front of an address in the 1800 block of Wyoming Avenue SW. A woman at the house handed police a purse, saying someone showed up and said it was stolen.

When authorities executed a search warrant, they found a handgun and several stolen items.

Authorities took several uncooperative people into custody and charges are pending, according to WDPS,

Police are still investigating to determine the actual shooter.
