Lugnuts top Whitecaps; take 3 of 4 games

PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — The game was scoreless through the five innings, before the Lansing Lugnuts broke through to beat the West Michigan Whitecaps Sunday.

The Whitecaps lost 4-2 at home at Fifth Third Ballpark, dropping three of four to the Lugnuts.

“It’s a long season,” Whitecaps manager Andrew Graham said. “It’s a lot of these guys’ first long season. They’re starting to realize what August is about — the grind, getting tired, knowing their bodies. These guys are starting to get tired. You can see it in them. So these guys need to keep grinding.”

The Whitecaps next play the Lake County Captains in Willowick, Ohio on Monday evening.
