BOSTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Two people were seriously hurt Saturday when the SUV they were in rolled after driving through standing water.

The crash happened around 4:10 p.m. on MacArthur Road near Ivan Road in Boston Township, southwest of Saranac, according to the Ionia County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities say the driver of an SUV, a 21-year-old Saranac man, drove through standing water at a high rate of speed and lost control. The SUV left the road, hit two mailboxes and then rolled over.

The driver and front seat passenger were hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The two people in the back seat were also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
