CASCADE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) – A call center that brought hundreds of jobs to Kent County is now shutting down, less than two years after opening.
Dialog Direct announced its plans to close the NOVO 1 call center in a letter to the state last week. The company said all of the remaining 106 workers will lose their jobs because of the shutdown.
The NOVO 1 facility opened at 2905 Lucerne Drive SE in September 2014. The customer engagement center employed approximately 250 people with the ability to expand to accommodate up to 400 employees.
NOVO 1 received a $550,000 grant from the Michigan Business Development Program for the Cascade Township site in April 2014. It’s unclear if the company will have to repay any of the funding.
Gov. Rick Snyder was there for the call center’s opening and said it was businesses like Dialog Direct that were bringing back jobs to Michigan.
Dialog Direct told the state that all Cascade Township workers will be officially laid off on Oct. 17.
