GRPD: Teen arrested for parking ramp attack

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) —  Hours after releasing surveillance images of a parking ramp attack suspect, Grand Rapids police say a teenager is in custody in connection to the crime.

A JW Marriott hotel employee said the suspect assaulted her and stole her purse just before 7 a.m. on July 8. The attack happened in the parking ramp at 235 Louis Street NW, police say.

Just before 10 a.m. Wednesday, police released additional images of suspect, captured on security cameras.  By 4:40 p.m., police had positively identified the 15-year-old suspect and taken him into custody.

Officers thanked citizens for their tips in the case.  They’re withholding the suspect’s name at this time.
