Whitecaps lose Game 3 to Loons, out of playoffs

PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — The West Michigan Whitecaps’ season is over.

They lost 5-2 to the Great Lakes Loons in Tuesday’s Game 3 of the Eastern Division Championship at Fifth Third Ballpark.

“They’re upset. I’ll give them time to digest it and then I’ll talk to them and tell them how well they did,” Whitecaps manager Andrew Graham told members of the media after the game. “They learned some stuff and developed. It’s all about learning each season to get better as a player so they can move to the big leagues. There’s a lot of prospects on that team, and our team battled the whole way, so I’m very proud of them.”

The Whitecaps lost the first game of the best-of-three series 4-1 and then won the second 5-3.

The Loons now advance to the Midwest League Championship.
