ORANGEVILLE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A man faces a murder charge after his girlfriend was found dead in eastern Barry County earlier this week.

Around noon Monday, Karinsa Wisniewski’s body was discovered at an address on Lindsey Road near Mullen Road in Orangeville Township, southeast of Gun Lake. According to the Barry County Sheriff’s Office, an autopsy found she had sustained multiple injuries.

Her boyfriend, 50-year-old Douglas Wortinger, has been charged with open murder in her death, the sheriff’s office said Wednesday.

The sheriff’s office said Wortinger and Wisniewski had been involved in a physical altercation the previous day near the Fish Lake boat landing off Guernsey Lake Road, only a couple of miles from where Wisniewski’s body was discovered. Investigators are looking for anyone who may have witnessed that confrontation. They are asking anyone who visited the boat landing between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. Sunday to call Detective Jeff Niewenhuis at 269.948.4801.
