KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — Loy Norrix High School has rescheduled two of its football games after the death of a recent graduate last week.

Police told Masavious Frazier’s father that his son and 17-year-old Daqarion Hunter were playing with a gun the night of Sept. 5 when it went off by accident and the bullet hit Hunter, killing him. They said Masavious, 17, became distraught about the shooting and fatally shot himself.

Both teens had ties to the Kalamazoo Public School district. Hunter had graduated from Loy Norrix High School in June and Marsavious Frazier attended Phoenix High School.

Loy Norrix High School has moved the date of the varsity and JV games to accommodate Hunter’s funeral on Friday. Both games will be played Thursday with the JV game starting at 4 p.m. and the varsity at 7 p.m., according to the school’s website.

The school went on to thank Gull Lake for “making the change so smoothly and putting the needs of our student athletes first.”
