Source: Body found at carpool lot likely there for weeks

PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Michigan State Police are investigating after a body was found at a carpool lot in Kent County Wednesday night.

The body was discovered around 7:30 p.m. in the woods near the carpool lot located on Post Drive off from US-131 in Plainfield Township.

A source familiar to the investigation told 24 Hour News 8 that the woman’s body was badly decomposed and may have been there for a week or two.

Due to the extent of decomposition, authorities are unable to identify the body but is believed to be a woman from Texas.

The source said the woman died from a single gunshot wound to the head. Authorities are also looking at the possibility of suicide because a gun was found near the body.

The death remains under investigation.
