SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. (WOOD) — A jury found a Van Buren County man guilty of killing his wife.

Friday, Brent William Bogseth was found guilty of open murder in the death of his wife Kimberly Allison Bogseth.

Authorities say Brent killed Kimberly on Sept. 1 and then filed for divorce from Kimberly on Sept. 8. 24 Hour News 8 was told that neighbors found Kimberly’s body on Sept. 9 near the Bogseths’ Columbia Township home in Van Buren County.

Court documents state Kimberly Bogseth appeared to have been killed by blunt force trauma. Police said they found a “large roofing style hammer” in her husband’s car, but the hammer apparently did not have blood or any other evidence on it.

After his wife’s remains were discovered by police, Brent left Michigan and headed to Chicago where the couple used to live.

Authorities in Van Buren County issued a warrant for his arrest and he was later picked up by the Chicago Police Department.
