GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) A heartfelt letter has led to the gift of a lifetime for a West Michigan man whose family has helped so many in the community. Lori and Dave Hastings are the founders of Lori’s Voice. The organization helps provide wheelchairs, medical assistance, and wheelchair accessible vehicles for families in need. Lori lives with the effects of muscular dystrophy and founded the organization after understanding the tremendous financial burden many families bear.

The Hastings’ daughter Valerie wrote a letter about her dad to enter him in a NMEDA contest to win a new van. Even though Lori and Dave work hard to provide vehicles for other people in need, their own van was in disrepair. Dave won the contest in the caregiver category and the entire family traveled to Florida to accept the prize.
