GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Moosejaw opened its first store on the west side of the state Monday morning.

It’s located on Ionia Avenue across the street from Grand Rapids’ Downtown Market. The pop-up store is temporary for the next six months as store owners test the market.

On one half of the store, shoppers will have access to Moosejaw’s High Altitude Lounge where they can play games or take a break.

Store Manager Chris Hagist said the store will offer items for those who love outdoor activities as well as the urban commuter.

“[If] you’re just cruising around town for a nice Saturday shopping [in] downtown Grand Rapids [and] taking it all in, you’re still going to have stuff that’s stylish, but also will perform and be lightweight to wear,” Hagist said.

The company also created a limited edition T-shirt after a member of the marketing team described Grand Rapids’ city logo as looking similar to Pac-Man.

“We have the Pac-Man game that folks can come in and play, but we got this cool T-shirt with the [City of Grand Rapids] logo consuming some of the finer things that Grand Rapids has to offer,” Hagist said.

On Saturday starting at 12 p.m., the store will hold an official grand opening ceremony. There will be giveaways, free beer from Founders and hot dogs from Yesterdog.
