HDPS: Man, 87, killed in Holland crash

HOLLAND, Mich. (WOOD) — An 87-year-old Holland man has died after a two-vehicle crash in Holland Monday.

It happened around 11:15 a.m. at the intersection of 40th Street and Lincoln Avenue, according to a news release from the Holland Department of Public Safety.

Police say a 2008 Chevy Malibu, driven by 87-year-old Henry Fozkos, drove through a stop sign at the intersection and into the path of a 2011 Honda Fit.

Fozkos was taken to Holland Hospital by ambulance and later transported to Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids. Tuesday, Fozkos died from his injuries, according to the release.

The driver of the Honda Fit, a 41-year-old Holland man, was uninjured in the crash. He was wearing his seatbelt, the release said.

Police say the initial investigation reveals that Fozkos was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Speed and alcohol are not believed to have been factors in the crash.
