(WOOD) — As the rain came down and the clouds rolled in, viewer photos of Wednesday’s storm flooded the 24 Hour News 8 newsroom.

Hundreds of homes and businesses reported power outages after the morning system swept through the area. So far, no injuries have been reported.

The National Weather Service issued Severe Thunderstorm Warnings for Muskegon, Ottawa and Kent counties around 9 a.m., saying the storms could generate strong wind gusts, hail and heavy rain.

Some viewers reported small hail and heavy rain.  They also snapped photos of scud clouds, which look similar to tornadoes but are not rotating and dangerous like twisters.

  • Sparta: 0.87 inches
  • Ludington: 0.62 inches
  • Fremont: 0.45 inches
