SHERMAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Police believe alcohol played a role in a deadly off-road vehicle crash in Isabella County.

Troopers were called to the crash on private property near Jordan Road and Wyman Road in Sherman Township around 11:45 p.m. Monday.

Investigators say two men were riding a 2014 Polaris Ranger ORV when it overturned.

One of the riders was thrown from the ORV which then landed on him. Police say 30-year-old Thomas Anderman from Lake, Michigan, died from his injures.

Authorities say alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.

The other rider, a 44-year-old man from Mt. Pleasant and owner of the ORV, told police he was driving the vehicle at one point that night. He was arrested for operating while intoxicated.

The crash remains under investigation.
