GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — For most people, ArtPrize means paintings, drawings or sculptures. But the second weekend of the art competition is putting a big emphasis on the music.
The two-day Blue Bridge Music Festival will bring together ArtPrize musicians with well-known Michigan bands.
Acts will begin playing Friday afternoon. There will also be performances throughout the day on Saturday.
Along with the new festival, the Blue Bridge is also hosting Blue Bridge Sessions where musicians perform for 30 minutes every day of the 19-day competition.
Musicians participating in the Blue Bridge Music Festival and Blue Bridge Sessions are eligible to win part of the $500,000 ArtPrize Awards money in the Time-Based category. They are also eligible to win $10,000 as part of the Blue Bridge Songwriters Awards. Ten $1,000 cash prizes will be handed out. Five will be decided by public vote and five will be given by an expert jury.
